Heather Caplan was born in Miami Beach, Florida and lived in South Florida until she and her family moved to Toms River, New Jersey when she was a freshman in high school. While living in New Jersey Heather began working at Walnridge Farm, a standardbred breeding facility and veterinary hospital. She completed her undergraduate studies at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree in Biology she attended Drexel University in Philadelphia graduating with a Masters in Laboratory Animal Medicine. Heather was then accepted to veterinary school at the University of Florida.

While at UF she was a foal technician in the neonatal foal unit. She then accepted and completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at Manor Equine Hospital in Monkton, Maryland before becoming an associate at Virginia Equine PLLC a three vet sports medicine practice in Richmond, Virginia. In 2009 she completed training in animal chiropractics at Options for Animals in Kansas and went on to receive training in acupuncture in 2010 at the Chi Institute in Ocala, Florida. Heather’s interests include lameness, wound management, colic, and surgery, as well as incorporating alternative therapies into daily practice. Heather is also very involved with the sport of Endurance and has become certified by the FEI. She has vetted rides up and down the East Coast.

In her free time Heather enjoys running, biking, crossfit, watching college sports and reading. She has competed in several triathlons and completed two marathons. Dr. Heather is married to Daniel Brass and they recently had twins Jackson and Lillian. She also has a white dog named Velo that sometimes rides along.

Dr. Elizabeth was foaled in Kentucky and lived there most of her life. She attended St. George’s University and Cornell University for her veterinary education. An internship at Equine Reproduction Concepts not only advanced her knowledge of basic and advanced reproductive techniques but also prepared her for general practice as the on-site veterinarian. Her areas of interest include reproduction, medicine, and client education. She has two Bengal cats; Daniel and Elaine.
